Short of 50 bucks

Went to Wangsa Maju today to change my provisional driving license to a normal one... Was supposed to do that two weeks ago...

So I took the lrt feeder bus (had to wait 40 minutes!!!) to Asia Jaya lrt station and went to Nads' place at Setiawangsa... that's my third trip there... and since her parents were performing their umrah, I had a taste of Nads' "motherly" cooking... ;-) Fried fish & prawns... I was so hungry and thankfully it tasted great... She baked some cookies also... and though the chocolate chip cookies were so flat or leper and easily broken, it was yummy.

After lunch, we took a cab to JPJ Wangsa Maju... After taking my number, I realised there were 35 people in line... Luckily many of them didn't show up, and my number was called quickly...

But I found out too late that I have to pay RM30 per year, and I have a choice of 1, 2, 5 and 10 years for the duration of my license... I wished I brought my allowance as I only had RM130 in my wallet, while Nad had RM120 with her... Arrghh... I only needed RM50 more bucks to apply for a 10-years license... I tried looking for an ATM machine, but sadly I found none... So in the end, I had to settle for a 5-years driving license...

Hoping to avoid taking the feeder bus home, I took the lrt from Wangsa Maju to Kerinchi, next to Rudy's office... Then I went up to his office and had a short sitting at his cubicle, pondering on the stuff he has there and what he was doing... About 1/2 hr later, we made our way back home...

Overall - great day... because I've got my competent's driving license =^_^=

Kesinambungan

Day 3 (Saturday):
The usual morning routine... except this time I had to wait 1/2 hour for CR to wake up... Anyway, there was light wind in the morning, so I played more card games with Ai Li and the gang... Now I've more acquantainces to talk to, mostly from the N. Sembilan and Sabah team... We went down after lunch with some nice wind... The starting line bias was so much at the boy that I had a few great starts which put me in the lead (although I keep losing it)... Had some problems going downwind when all the boats with bigger sails keep covering me... But I did good overall which helped secure first place position for my race class... Yay! They gave out the individual class medals that night except for the overall placings, so I received my Gold from Uncle Dermawan, a Lt. Commander or sumthing at the Navy base... A very very nice guy... Played card games at night till 3 AM 'cause the next day is a marathon which I've decided not to participate in...

Day 4 (Sunday & Final Day):
Woke up and dressed leisurely (jeans and shirt instead of tracks and rashguards)... After breakfast at the clubhouse, I unrigged and kept all my rigging and return the stuff I borrowed i.e. boat, daggerboard, rudder, masts, boom, tiller & extension... No problems... Played more card games with the other sailors since the wind wasn't there yet... After lunch, I was pleaded to helm a 470 (two-men-boat) as the original helm couldn't make it... After much persuasion and confirmation, I agreed and when off to change and get geared up... only to find out minutes before everyone was launching their boats, the original helm turned up... so i'm all dressed for sailing for nothing... the guys who persuaded me felt guilty and all, they said they'll belanja me some ice-cream... At first I was feeling slightly frustrated, but after they went down, I went to my bags to repack my stuff... Then I lepaked at the pontoon next to the starting line... After about 1.5 hours, the marathon was cancelled due to light wind and strong current... Haha... I guess it was a blessing that I didn't go down after all... So I get to relax while every other sailor is packing, returning, transporting equipment, etc... So after the prize giving ceremony where I obtained my 8th runner up medal for overall placings, went back to the apartment, bathed and checked out... Reached home at 11.30 PM, in time to watch The Apprentice 2 finale...

The End of Navy Day Regatta 2005 recap ;-)

Starboard. Gold.

Got back from Lumut's Navy Day Open Regatta last night... Managed to bring back two medals: 1st for Laser 4.7 class and 9th for Laser Overall class... They should've given medals for the girls class (they usually do), as there were nine girls participating the Laser category... Usually the numbers doesn't even reach five... Would've gotten a silver for that category...

Slept in a 3-room apartment (A31) in the navy base with KL and Selangor's officers, which are all men, so I had one whole room to myself (yippee!). Stayed there for 3 nights from Thursday till Sunday. The aparment units there (the ones not permanently inhabited), always seem run-down with some broken furniture, dirty mattresses, no curtains and such... Altho it's only my second stay at an apartment like this in 8 years, the unit looks bad as ever... the only new items found in the apartment are the newly installed wall fans... Being old, it's an eerie place for me to sleep in a room alone... With my windows facing a jungle, I just had to leave my light on when I slept... Most of all because of the memories that I have from my first stay at the apartment (A33) 8 years ago in Standard 5, we (the girls) were haunted by stories from the guys who had no other business than scaring the heck out of us...

So.. the lumut regatta from my point of view:

Day 1 (Thursday):
Cikgu Ropi (team manager, CR) picked me up from my place at 10.30 AM... 1.5 hours later from the promised time... We headed to Klang to settle the boats and CR had to pay the lorry driver... Had lunch, 'lepak'ed at Uncle Rosli's house while waiting for him to get ready as he'll be in the same car as CR and I. It was about 1 PM when we left for Lumut. The road trip was uneventful. We arrived at Lumut at approximately 5.30 PM. Had to unload 20 optimist boats from the lorry, then CR and the other officers arranged the allocated accommodation, had dinner, played cards and slept at about 12 something midnight.

Day 2 (Friday):
I was in the bathroom after waking up when I received a message on my handphone from CR telling me to wake up... Went to the racing venue, the Boat Yard (BY), registered and obtained my chartered laser boat and equipment. The race was scheduled to start at 10 AM but due to the registering process still going on and lack of wind, the race was postponed until after Friday prayers. Had to races today and I finished 4th and 2nd. It wasn't a good performance for me and I had to recheck my rigging for the next day. I was even over course side (OCS) on the second race and had to go back and restart... Happy to have caught up to 2nd tho... Nothing much after, that... the usual unrigging, bathing, dinner, and card games again til 1.30AM. Learned a new card game --> jim-ra-mi <-- I've absolutely no idea how to spell this card game, so this spelling is from what I heard them call it... I may even get the pronunciation wrong...

To be continued... 'Cause I'm hungry for lunch ;-)

It's already Wednesday...

Holidays bring happiness... Actually, it brings laziness.. Ha!

So, I'll be leaving tomorrow for another regatta in Lumut...

First tutoring session next Monday.

Yummy... I just had two burgers for lunch today and a regular Vanilla Coke... Should've ordered large... The Whopper Jr. with cheese is one of my favorites... After wolfing that burger down, the BK Big Fish was next on my lunch menu... It was deeeee-licious... My first time eating it.

Finished watching 26 episodes of My-HiME after reading 33 Chapters of its manga... so i'm waiting to read the rest of My-HiME, Pretty Face and Shaman King... so now i'm in the lookout for something else to do...

Sun, sun and more sun~

A weekend regatta at RSYC
Went sailing on the platu for the first time... To me, it's almost like an oversized 470... How I miss sailing the 470... Somehow, I just need a tall & heavy crew... ;-)

There were five of us on Platu 2-
Me, Justin & Sing Theng - The ex-optimists sailors, as they call us
Dominic Liddell - Our skipper, fun, fun and more fun
Colin - Day 1 tactician, I'm not sure whether I got his name right...
Leslie - Day 2 ballast, it was his first time sailing, I'm sure he had fun :-)

We had four races and one pursuit race back to the clubhouse. It was a great achievement, i think, as we finished: 3 2 1 2 3

Overall: 2nd

It was quite funny the way the adults argue about the rules among each other and how some skippers curse and raise their voices towards their crew...

There's a lot more to say, actually, but I'm to lazy to place all the details... maybe there're more details in myuu's blog...

Now... to look for breakfast and to apply the after-sun lotion... i'm glad i'm not burning red... sunblock is always a must for me at sea

Eye-max

Just got back from Berjaya Times Square... A big but still kinda deserted place...

Anyway, Rudy had an extra ticket to watch Robots at the IMAX theater... The place that's suppose to show 3D movies...

The screen is about 5x bigger (according to them) and curved (for that 3D effect) although Robots is a 2D movie... Although I sat somewhere in the middle, the screen was so big, I could see the movie very detailed... kinda...

Anyway, the movie was good... I still think that Shrek and Shrek 2 are still tops... The incredibles is also better... Robots is like a movie that passes by... remembering it may be something else...

Going for a little regatta tomorrow... Huggles!

My first job interview

No big deal... it's a part time job anyway... at a kid's boutique in One Utama... somehow I expected the interviewer to look like a business man... i mean, the kind of people wearing ties and coats... i mean... some guy who looks like he's settled down with a family...
This guy who interviewed me looks young... chinese and tall, he looks like a guy with style... what am i saying... it's just that i didn't expect such a person...

i think i'm talking nonsense... maybe it's because, up till now, the interviews i attended, during school and for scholarships, the interviewers are people who looks so... corporated? if there's such a word... anyway, finding a job for the first time, really broaden my view of the business world...

who would've thought, shops in 1 utama can be fined for opening their outlets late, or closing early =^_^=

now... i'm aiming to apply for more part-time jobs... just need someone to drag to the shopping centre ;-)

oh... and i watched the last samurai today... finally

That's the way.. aha aha..

So far I've been so religously putting up posts everyday... Well... A new broom sweeps clean... Only a matter of time, the frequency of postings will drop... I hope NOT...

Anyway, I went to adik's school to meet with his teachers... I managed to talk to almost all his teachers... Most of them gave similar opinions: smart but lazy

I hope he turns out fine...

Well... after that I met with Baya and Fifi at Ikano to look for a job... I wasn't succesful there... Mostly, all I did was watch as Baya go from shop to shop asking the person behind the counter for a job... Well, that did it... I just had to put aside my shyness or what and start enquiring for a job... but not here... =-D

At about 4 pm, we shifted to 1Utama... there, I finally had the guts to just approach and ask... and the results: 4 job applications =^_^=

However, I still need to brush up on my self-esteem... sigh...

So... My English isn't as good as Rudy's... He's six years older anyway

Hehe... Not about maths...

I've started reading Shaman King.... finished three volumes today...

Bah humbug...

Ah... What a day...

Not much, actually... the usual picking up of lil bro from school... it was raining, so the traffic was a bit bad...

Then... decided to call someone who I've not spoken to for about five months... and 1 hr later, i actually went out to visit her...

Apparently after that long, all her little grandchildren still remembers me :)
They even drew a cute flower with a bee on my left palm... with a ballpoint pen... ouch... and one of the younger one actually slobbered my arm with saliva, only to wipe it off with her shirt... Then she bit me... ouch again...

Well... I left 2 hrs later after watching this 'electronic bed' being set up... I'm don't think that's the best way to describe it... it is something used for therapy using ultra-violet lights... ah... i don't know...

Anyway... back at home... helped onii-chan clean up the mess in his room... I bet tomorrow another mess will appear... Uncle dropped by for awhile before meeting and showing a potential client a condominium unit... Then had dinner at the cafe downstairs...

Dinner was on me... It was simple (the usual spicy fried rice which isn't spicy at all, with a couple of chicken wings)... yum! onii-chan had fish and chips while lil bro had rice with mushroom chicken... anyway, it's was enjoyable as we reminisced some funny moments from Cardcaptor Sakura... particularly about kero-chan and suppi...

So so... mahjong was next... but i'm losing badly to both my brothers... erghh...

Oh... and check this trailer out : The Kingdom of Heaven

Beep beep beep beep beep~!!

Argh... Protons... Ya... It doesn't exactly sound like "beep beep"...
Had a battle with the Waja's alarm system... it just won't shut off... well, don't blame me, i'm not the one who tiggered the alarm... blame proton... ^_^

Funny... the alarm incident caused onii-chan to come back, only to find the car quiet and 'obedient'...
I'm so thankful I drive a Kelisa...

Ergh... better watch my grammar and stuff... i've a grammar teacher for a brother ;-) (main2 saja) *grin* sigh... somehow my command of the english language is not up to onii-chan's nor okaa-san's standards...

So... today i watched the first screening of Samara a. k. a. The Ring Two in KLCC... I don't know what to comment on that movie... I was more into the plot and i think it wasn't as scary as the first... still, i prefer the japanese one...

Job search: Feeling somewhat shy and intimidated, I shifted my job search from KLCC to Midvalley... Well... at least i managed to apply for one job... which is located at 1Utama (goody!). However, there were no more forms left so i just ended up writing my name and contact number on a piece of blank paper... sigh... is that really a job application...?

Before this I also signed up to be a facilitator for an event taking place in 1Utama at the end of May...

Ah... Finally...

There we have it... the finals are officially over for me...
Then the hugs and goodbyes... especially to those living outstation...

About 3 months of holiday begins...

Well... Now to look for a job... =^_^=

And play mahjong

Pretty Face

9.15 AM: Took the lrt to Nads' place in Setiawangsa... First time, I felt what it was like to commute in a packed lrt from Taman Jaya station at a peak hour... I reached her place at 10.15 AM...

Anyway, I've started reading the manga titled "Pretty Face"... enjoyable ^_^

But I should be getting on with my studying for my last paper... I didn't go all the way to Nads' house to collect past year papers and leave 'em lying in my bag...

Study, study, study... game.

Three Down, One to Go

I'm finally back after spending six days in residential college... Did my clearance this morning and now I've just one paper more to sit for - Entrepreneurship...

Papers done:
Financial Mathematics
Linear Algebra
Mathematical Statistics 2

My next and final paper is this Wednesday... then I'm free for 3 months...

Altho I'm hoping to obtain a part-time job =^_^=

Still sick... but getting better... ^_^
